What Is the Principle of Polarity?
In a previous blog post, I spoke about the polarity of the emotions experienced on the twin flame journey: how someone can move from love to hate, from joy to sorrow and i can name many more: from courage to fear, from union to separation, sometimes with extraordinary speed.
In this blog post, I want to explain a little more about what polarity actually means. The Principle of Polarity is one of the Seven Hermetic Principles. It teaches that everything has two poles and that opposites are often identical in nature, but different in degree. Heat and cold, for example, are not two entirely different things. They are both degrees of temperature.
The same applies to light and darkness, noise and quiet, hard and soft, high and low. They are opposing poles of the same thing, with countless degrees between them.
Polarity in Our Mental and Emotional States
According to this principle, the same is true of our mental and emotional states. Love and hate belong to the same class. Courage and fear belong to the same class. Activity and non-activity belong to the same class. They are opposing poles along the same line of polarization.
How Mental Transmutation Works
This is important because mental transmutation can only occur between things of the same kind. Fear cannot be transmuted into love, because they belong to different classes. But fear can be transmuted into courage. Hate can be transmuted into love. Non-activity can be transmuted into activity.
The change is not a transformation into something entirely different. It is an alteration in degree and a change of polarity.
Why Polarity Matters on the Twin Flame Journey
And this is part of enlightenment: learning to raise our mental vibrations and consciously polarize ourselves towards the positive end of the scale. Instead of being the servant of our emotional states, we learn to become their master. As my beloved Meredithia usually says, on her YouTube channel, the twin flame journey is a journey of mastery.
On the twin flame journey, this is one of the many lessons we are asked to embody before union becomes possible: learning to shift our own polarity, raise our frequency and create inner union before seeking union with the other.
